DALSLAND CANAL
Dalsland offers perfect conditions for recovery and well-being. Untouched nature and genuine experiences can be enjoyed in this magical and fabulous landscape.
Itinerary
- Day 1: Gammelgården We arrive in beautiful and wild Dalsland and visit the largest open-air museum in western Sweden, Gammelgården in Bengtsfors. We feel the wind from the wings of history as we walk around the old buildings. After checking in at the hotel dinner awaits.
- Day 2: Dalsland canal Today we are going to enjoy the Dalsland Canal and the beautiful nature that surrounds it, here in the heart of Sweden’s most lake-rich landscape. The route passes 16 exciting locks with a difference in level of 41 meters. The romantic mill communities with their lock stations and mansions we glide past at a leisurely pace are linked by beautiful lakes with unspoiled nature and rich bird and animal life. We also go through the famous aqueduct in Håverud, which is completely unique in its kind. A free-hanging bridge, where the water is led in a 33.5 meter long metal trough over the rapids. During the canal trip, lunch is served on board. Back at the hotel, dinner is served.
- Day 3: Läckö castle and departure After breakfast we start our journey back to our home town. We take the road south of Lake Vänern and stop at Läckö Castle, which rises above the lake from a cliff on the shore. A guided tour takes us through the sensuous gardens, baroque splendor, rich medieval vaults and gleaming treasures. In the afternoon we are back home and can unpack our suitcase after three wonderful days.
