Cities+Tours
Let us introduce ourselves
At Cities+Tours, our small team is made up of dedicated travel and tourism experts who are deeply passionate about Scandinavia. Today, we invite you to meet our team members. Get to know the people whose expertise and service make Cities+Tours your trusted partner for all things Scandinavia.
Anna Alshammar – Head of Department
Anna started working at Haman Scandinavia in 2015 and later joined Cities+Tours in 2020, and she’s worked for both departments ever since. Her favourite thing about her job is the people: “The travel industry is fun and filled with passionate people who love what they do. You get to work with colleagues and clients from all over the world and that’s very inspiring. To be able to offer groups such a great variety of destinations, activities and untouched nature also makes me a very proud Scandinavian.”
For travellers visiting Scandinavia for the first time, Anna’s top recommendation is to explore Djurgården Island in Stockholm. Her favourite place in all of Scandinavia is her hometown, Stockholm. In Djurgården, you can walk or bike through stunning parklands close to the city. The island is home to some of Stockholm’s finest art museums, set in beautiful environments, and offers excellent local food. Don’t miss out on a ‘fika’ at the museum restaurants.
Fredrik Bäckström – Sales Manager
Fredrik started with Cities+Tours in 2019. He lives on the beautiful island Öland, which is also his favourite place in all of Scandinavia. Fredrik values the diverse interactions with clients and suppliers, which provide enjoyable and insightful exchanges. His local tip for travellers visiting Scandinavia for the first time is a little gem on Öland: “Don´t miss Gårdby kafé och lanthandel when visiting Öland. An idyllic place with a large garden where you can enjoy a good cup of coffee and a tasteful pastry.”
Maria Strömner – Sales & Operations Consultant
Maria has also been a valued team member since 2023. Her favourite place in Scandinavia and the Nordics are the Faroe Islands. “The dramatic landscapes with their rugged cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and serene fjords, are absolutely stunning. One of the most beautiful destinations I’ve ever visited.” You can read more about her experience in the Faroe Islands here. Her favourite thing about her job is creating personalised itineraries that cater to clients unique preferences and interests. She also loves staying updated on travel trends and destinations.
Her tip for first time travellers is to explore beyond the well-known tourist spots and embrace the local culture. For instance, visiting smaller towns and remote areas can offer a more authentic experience. Have an Ice cream with the lovely view at “Mormors Glasscafé” in Lysvik Sweden or a visit to the art-gallery “Sliperiet” in Borgvik Sweden. Additionally, consider traveling during the shoulder seasons, spring & fall, to avoid the crowds and enjoy milder weather.
Frida Andersson – Sales & Operations Consultant
Frida has been with Cities+Tours since October 2023. Her favourite place in Scandinavia is the High Coast, where the views from Skuleberget are particularly impressive. Frida enjoys expanding her destination knowledge. Every request is a new chance to offer something new and unique to the client. This requires her to always be well-informed and do herresearch about the destination so that she can offer something that exceeds the clients’ expectations.
Her secret tip is to do a food-tour in mid/northern-Sweden! Experience classic Swedish flavours in unique combinations at restaurant Bua in Östersund, learn about the history of the traditional Swedish thin bread at Mjälloms Tunnbröd, in Ullånger, a Gin-tasting at the world-famous Hernö Gin Distillery outside Härnösand or if you are more into beer – visit the Revsund Breweri & Distillery outside Bräcke.
